Jill's Dance Studio debuted in 2007 and currently has over one hundred students enrolled. We are very excited to be offering dance classes to Douglas and the surrounding communities, and specialize in providing quality instruction at affordable rates.
With our new and current instructors, Jill's Dance Studio has a combined total of over forty years of experience in dance. We offer classes to children ages 1 and up as well as to adults. Classes offered include Mommy & Me, Creative Movement, Beginning Cheer, Million Dollar Babies, Ballet, Jazz, Dance Sampler, Hip-Hop, Cheer, Musical Theatre, Turn Jumps Leaps & Flexibility, Ballroom, and the Douglas Dolls and Douglas Darlings. At Jill's we can keep you dancing all year 'round! Our studio offers two dance recitals per season as well as summer dance classes and camps. Additionally, the Important Dates section of our Web site conveniently lists activities and their dates to keep you abreast of events throughout the year.
Jill's is also proud to feature our audition-only dance teams; the Douglas Dolls and the Douglas Darlings. These teams instill a sense of camaraderie among the dancers while giving them the opportunity to perform at events within the community.
MEET THE
INSTRUCTORS
Jill Haskins - Instructor, Choreographer, Owner
Jill has over twenty years of dance experience including national competitions for drill team as well as all types of studio dance including tap, jazz and ballet. She's originally from Houston, Texas where she competed nationally while dancing on drill teams since the age of five in jazz, pom, military and high kicks. Jill has also trained in the area of ballroom dancing for over five years.
Jill moved to Phoenix, AZ where she completed her Bachelor's degree in speech and hearing science at Arizona State University. She worked in the Phoenix school districts for over six years as a speech therapist.
Jill was an NFL cheerleader for the 2002 and 2003 football seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. As an NFL cheerleader she gained a lot of experience with community events, volunteer work and summer camps for children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, two year old son and 10 month old daughter.
Grace Herrick - Instructor
Grace was born in Fort Collins, Colorado. She moved to Douglas at the age of ten. She has been in dance and gymnastics since she was eleven years old. Grace loves teaching dance. Her favorite type of dance is ballet because it is such a beautiful and graceful style of dance. Last year she taught ballet, cheer and creative movement.
Grace is married and has two daughters. In her spare time she enjoys crafts, sewing and spending time with her family.
Amanda Schlup - Instructor
Amanda is a Wyoming native. She was born in Wheatland and has lived in Douglas all of her life. She is a junior at Douglas High School. Amanda takes part in activities such as drill team, dance team and is currently the cheerleading manager. She is in Job's Daughters as Honored Queen.
Amanda has been dancing since the age is two in ballet, tap, hip-hop and jazz classes. She taught beginning cheer last year and is very excited to be teaching more classes this fall. Amanda's hobbies include horseback riding, hanging out with friends and riding four wheelers.
Shelley Henggeler - Instructor
Shelley has lived in Douglas for 3 1/2 years now, with her husband Burt, and her children, Madison, Vaughn and Lindsay after living in Colorado for 5 years.
Shelley grew up in Southern California and in her youth participated in cheerleading and performed the half-time show at the Pop Warner Football games. During that time, Shelley was also involved in competitive gymnastics for 8 years, through which she also enjoyed 2 years of ballet. In high school she was a member of the Drill Team and also performed the half-time show for the Friday night football games. Although she never continued on with any form of dance, Shelley always had a love and passion for jazz dance and of course, like most other young girls, wanted to be a dancer. In her spare time, Shelley enjoys fishing, cooking and trap shooting.
